Devotions and Lessons
Scripture of the Week:
Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
We close out our look at the Ten Commandments with a look into the final two.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s. Exodus 20: 16-17
The 9th Commandment talks about more than lying against your neighbor. Have you ever looked deeper into this? Why would God use the term that translates into neighbor? What about not speaking the Truth at all times to all people. After all, everyone is considered as neighbor, not just the people next door. Are we not also to be witnesses of the Truth which is Christ and His work in our lives? The Hebrew word for truth has the first, near middle, and last letters of the alphabet. This brings new meaning to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. If we cannot speak the truth (bearing false testimony) in any fashion then we are denying our relationship with Christ who is recorded by John saying, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (14:6).”
The 10th Commandment talks of coveting. Some have come to understand coveting to mean being jealous of, then acting upon it through theft or adultery. It is more than that, coveting refers to selfish desires and or lusting after another’s possessions or partners. When the intentions of the heart are not scripturally sound nor within godly standards, are we not breaking this commandment. Do not think that just because we do not confess it that God has no knowledge of it, He knows. We need to reveal our hearts to ourselves to understand our need for the saving grace of God to deliver us from sin. What are we commanded to do in order to deny ourselves from the desires of temptation that lead to sin? Paul tells us in Galatians 5:24, “Walk in the spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh”.
We may be physically bound by the law of man but we are fully bound by God’s Commandments and Statutes which override man’s law. Not just Jews and Christian believers, but all God’s Creation. Scripture indicates that God was known about by many peoples and was praised for His works. Our Father was feared by many and His Statutes were known of and written about since the beginning. We as Christians are given the purpose of sharing God’s Word with the world through Love and understanding. We must not give in to the evils of this world which will cause us to sin. Take special care in all you do not to go against God’s Law. Paul reminds us that we are still required to follow His Commandments because Jesus came to fulfill them with Love.
Read Galatians 5: 13-26
Exodus 20:14, 15 “Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal.” (KJV).
These two are the 7th and 8th Commandments. I find these two kind of close in that the adulterer is also a thief. Now remember, adultery punishment is equal for both male and female. The penalty for adultery was more severe than it is today:
If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel. Deuteronomy 22:22
And the man that commits adultery with another man's wife, even he that commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. Leviticus 20:10
Then there is the one who thinks nobody is watching. He has another thing coming...
The eye of the adulterer watches for dusk; he thinks, 'No eye will see me,' and he keeps his face concealed. Job 24:15
Sorry Charlie, God sees everything. He even knows your heart’s desire.
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5 27-28
Don’t let your eyes direct the desires of the heart. Our eyes should be fixed on God and on the person He chooses for our life mate. Sometimes people listen to the lustful desires or wish to experiment outside of God’s design. Acting upon that temptation and even the mere thought of it leads to sin either of the body or in the heart.
From the spiritual standpoint with a bit of legalism...Adultery violates the sworn promise of parties to a sacred covenant. It perverts the picture of our sovereign union with God Himself. In other words, don’t do it. If you have, then be true and ask forgiveness.
Persons who commit adultery are guilty of stealing their own heart away from the person they swore their life to in the bonds of matrimony. This brings us to the sin of theft.
As for the thief, well it is a basic understanding not to steal from others but there is a deeper meaning here, stealing from ourselves. This self-burglary involves our inner honesty within our very being. When we lie to ourselves we are rationalizing an injustice and taking away our blessing of inner peace.
Here is one for you, sin constitutes theft from God.
Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed. Numbers 5:7
Let me explain. Jim borrows the pressure washer with the intended purpose of washing the walls and concrete around his property. Jim then also uses it to do the same for his son’s house 5 miles away. Jim stole a usage of an item by taking it elsewhere and using it without your knowledge thereby abusing a privilege. If something happened to it even in transit would you not be a little upset. Well, God lends our souls the five senses etc. to live a life for which He intended. If we misuse it such as for speaking evil, or doing things for which are not His intent then we have stolen the gifts for our own gratification. We have sinned.
Therefore, thievery has eternal ramifications because the outer action causes the inner dysfunction known as sin against God. Our thoughts can betray us. This action shows a lack of trust that God meets all our needs.
Well, what do we do? Recognize that God truly does meet all our needs, has given us a life mate, and makes our lives easy as long as we stay in Him. An exit to sin can lead to eternal darkness unless recompense is made.
The school system is not as safe of an environment that it used to be. Drugs, alcohol, sexual assaults, pregnancies, excessive bullying on and off campus; these were unheard of 30 years ago. If they happened, the school system was allowed to take disciplinary action unless the parents spoke otherwise in which case the parent came to the school and disciplined openly. Jesus used tough love along with Agape Love. Also, Jesus adamantly spoke of loving the children and reminding them of the rod of wisdom (the teaching of right from wrong by tough love) instead of striking the child but sometimes the swat on the butt is necessary to teach the more disorderly ones a lesson.
My question is this: If the Bible was still a recommended text in school would we have these issues? Before most of us were born, the Bible was taught in schools (in fact into the early 1920s. The basic principles of Proverbs and the other wisdom books were examined from a young age. Now children are chided for reading the Bible during free time and they are learning about Islam which is very dangerous for our youth. We need to get the Bible back into the schools. After all, the public school system did start with Sunday School in England.
On the topic of schools we need to get back to basics. This new common core math seems to be the product of a demented mind. History books are being rewritten to change worldviews, cursive writing is a dying art because of computers, teachers have no disciplinary rights, detention and suspensions really do not work. Remember the Golden Rule? It is now tarnished and replaced with the five pillars of Islam. Obama ordered all school systems to have gender neutral bathrooms and locker rooms, what is up with that? But thank God we have some smart politicians and school District presidents that fight that. Talking about exploring sexuality. The only good that may come of it is early exposure to the opposite sex may cause more appreciation for the body meaning less sexualization and harassment. But then again, there is the issue of the devil getting in the head and assaults could occur.
Thank goodness my daughter is in a school system that has good teachers and actually cares for them. God is definitely present there. Prayer is allowed and reading the Bible is not chided. In fact, one of the high schools has a place for students to take time and pray at lunch or in between classes. The county system has a faith based program that is ever present in schools and Jesus name is the preferred name in open public prayer at events. There is even a Christian based event after every football game.
Our youth are in trouble of not being able to function in society as good moral and ethical citizens. Much less good Christians. How is this honoring our parents? We, as adult Christians, have sat back and allowed the world get so distorted and ungodly that the line between what is morally right and wrong has blurred. We must take a stand and put the Bible back in as a text for study. After all doesn't Scripture command that children take heed of the Word??
I was working in my garden this morning and pulled a large amount of green beans from it. While pulling them I was reminded about God's Love for us and how He placed us here to care for His creation and how He cares for us in return. Not only that, as we cultivate and harvest to fill our bellies with the bounty of the land, He fills us with His Spirit and restores us to Him. I am thinking out loud when I say that the process of gardening in the same process that God uses to cultivate and grow us. We till the land and separate it from the rest. He separated us from sin when He gave His Son for us. We plant seeds and water them to make them grow. He places the Spirit within us to help us grow in Him. We give the plants nutrients, He gave us the Word. The plant uses the food to grow strong, we use His Word to feed our soul and Praise The Lord. As the nutrients help the plant grow and sprout blossoms to eventually grow fruit, so we grow in faith and do work (live in service) according to His will. Our actions and speech gather others to Him. The plant continues to grow and blossom to give more fruit to feed us and others. If we let the plant wither without nourishment, it dies. If we stop sharing His Word, we die in the spirit and no one can be spiritually fed by a dead soul. All this to say, do not lose faith in this troubled time. We need to fight the weeds of the world using tough love to plant the right food so that the poison of sin will be eradicated and replaced by the vitamins of truth. Stand Firm in Love. Be strong and continue to seek God.
Are you truly in the Father or are you just playing lip service while you live in the world? There is an issue in the world today where there are so many things that take us away from time with the Father and living for an in Christ. With the television, internet, music, video games, work, and worlds of fantasy, we find so many reasons not to open the Bible or spending time in prayer. Some are so involved in their “recreational activities” and “personal time” that those have become their idols. An example out there is this fantasy involving Anime and other T.V. shows, video games, and movies in which people pretend to be these imagined characters. Some take it to the extreme where they lose themselves in the characters and it becomes their life. This ok when you’re young (to a point) but what are you going to do when you are 45, or 65. Basically, walking around as a fictional character without getting paid to do it and believing that is who you are is a psychological danger to the individual and those exposed to it. Another is sports, losing themselves in the spirit of the team and near worship of players. I know some individuals that lost a companion, husband or wife because the real person was no longer there.
There is also a striking absence of godly living due to the acceptance of sinful behavior. If sin becomes acceptable in our lives, do we still carry the Word (mark) of God (See Exodus 13:9, 16; Deuteronomy 6:6-8, 11:18 Living in the Word), or are we carrying the mark of the beast (living in the sins and in the world; Rev 14:9-11). Hint, the mark is not a microchip. Both are in the head and the hand but that is another subject altogether.
Just because we are to love our neighbor as ourselves does not mean we are to rejoice with them as they relish in their sin. Just remember, it is not for us to condemn (judge) but help them see the light. Is it not our mission to share the Word, the Gospel, and the Truth which is Jesus? We must be vigilant in prayer for those lost in sinful behaviors.
I have five questions to ask you. I hope these questions make you think about where you are with Christ.
I want you to Look at your life and see how you are living.
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates (an unprincipled person ((unsaved))?” 2 Cor. 13:5
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
Was there a change in your life, 2 Cor. 5:17?
Are you living in the Love of the Father? Do you do your absolute best to follow a Christian way of life? If not, don’t you think it may be time to change for God.
What are your priorities?
Is Jesus first in your life, do you love Him above all even your own self?
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 2 Corinthians 5:9
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10
What and who do you love, what do you do, and what do you live for?
“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall,” 2 Pet. 1:10.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. Matthew 6:19
And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! Luke 12:22-24
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15
Are you living for tomorrow or each day? Do you desire material wealth or spiritual wealth? What wisdom do you seek?
Who/What are you trusting for salvation?
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:24
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. Matthew 22:37-38
Were you compelled to come look to Jesus alone for salvation, John 6:44?
No amount of money can keep you alive forever, No other god has entrusted you with the spirit that will guide you to true happiness. Roku and Pikachu did not die on a cross for you.
Do you remember your salvation experience, examine it?
What happened in that moment you are trusting as the moment when you were saved?
Was there an awareness of your lost, sinful condition before the Lord? In other words, was there conviction of sin, John 13:7-11?
Was there a moment when you looked away to Him by faith and instantly saw the truth of the Gospel, Isa. 45:22?
The implication here is simple, don’t take what you think you have for granted. Don’t just assume that you are saved because you have checked off a box or two on the Salvation checklist. There are conditions to meet. Love your neighbor as yourself; the Lord thy God is your best source of comfort in troubling times; Children are innocent, do not let them make choices based of fantasy characters and fantastic beasts. There is no other way to be saved except through Christ, but you must be committed to following Him, even if it means death.
I want you to be sure you are saved. I do not want you to go to Hell trusting a false profession. I want you to be able to stand when the enemy comes against you and seeks to make you doubt. I fear that sometimes, we blame our doubts on the devil, when all the time it is the Lord Who is trying to show us that we need to be born again.
Brothers and Sisters I urge you to share this with our youth.
The future for you is now. There are so many escapes from the world but the right one, the Truth, is actually written in the heart already. In our very DNA. Stay in the Lord and keep fighting the good fight. Do not get lost in the music of the world but be a part of the song of the creation. Stand firm in your faith and do not let it waiver. Love, but understand what you truly love is deep rooted within your very soul waiting to be loosed upon the world.
Exodus 20:13 “You shall not murder” (NKJV).
“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:” (KJV) Matthew 15:19
This one is not as easy to define as many may think. Murder is more than causing one physical harm leading to the demise of the individual. It is mental as well. Jewish sages say that it applies only to illegal killing, not for the actions of killing the enemy during war. Man, being made in the Image of God and therefore all lives of mankind are precious. ONLY GOD has the right to give and take a life.
What about the feelings and actions of the heart. Does not Jesus say that sinning in the heart is just like actually committing the sin in the flesh? One does not have to actually shed blood in order to violate this Law. Think of it like this, public shaming, harmful gossip, and slandering attack a man’s dignity and therefore is abject murder. The Jewish Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Father), says this, “The evil tongue slays three persons: the utterer of the evil, the listener, and the one spoken about”.
Now as I mentioned before, killing of the enemy during wartime is not technically committing murder. Since 1914 we have had many wars and police actions in which there were atrocities committed. Those atrocities are considered murder, yes, even though some would say they were just victims of the war it was much more than that. Killing during firefights are much different than intentional raiding, killing just for killing, raping, and looting. These actions are against the 6th Commandment.
Thou Shalt Not Murder therefore is more than just the physical act of premeditated murder, it involves inappropriate feeling from the heart and extremely harmful words. So we really have to watch what we say or do no matter how we feel. Remember, as much as we want to say words of condemnation we must be vigilant in not letting emotions get overridden by hatefulness and disgust no matter the situation. Be wary when taking up certain causes because this day and age there are so many with deep rooted evil intentions that start out as peaceful. Brother and Sisters in Christ, we are in a period of spiritual war with the world. Stay in the Word and keep it on your heart and God will provide strength, guidance, and comfort. May God bless you all in this time of tribulation.
Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother
Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12
The first of the moral laws for living on this earth given by God in the Ten Commandments is the easiest one to fall from. This one is basic to all other social relationships and the foundation for decent human society. The first true social interactions happens with the parents and siblings. There are many Scriptures which speak of honoring our parents which means there is no limit to the honor that is due our parents. Children must not shame their parents, bring heartache or pain, and never be angry towards their parents.
The Apostle Paul restated this commandment in Ephesians when speaking of what Jesus fulfilled and what He requires of us. He also says,
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)
The Books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes are wisdom books which hold moral and ethical truths that are still poignant to today’s society. Why have we failed? We failed because of our love. Love has turned from Godly things to worldly advances. Love has changed the people in the world. We have redefined love. It is one thing to show love for one another but another thing to ignore God’s great love for His creation. How has this happened???
Brothers and Sisters, Sons and Daughters, we have dishonored our parents by failing to uphold and require of the youth, the 5th Commandment.
One of the problems today is that parents are bowing to the children. This world has gone from respecting elders to “let the child explore things and they will learn on their own”. By doing this, we have lost the art of our basic rights as parents regarding proper teaching and disciplining (the whole thing known as rearing) the children in the way of the Lord. We have become desensitized through the whims and teachings of child psychologists who have given more power to children causing a lack of discipline, respect, and other godly values that we, as Christians, are ordained (under strict obligation) to observe and teach. We have failed our parents by not following their teachings which were of God. Yes there has been mistranslations and nowhere in Scripture does it actually say to spare the rod (physical discipline with an implement) spoil the child. The rod spoken of in Scripture is the teachings, the wisdom of God. If we do not teach the children right, then we have spoiled their chances of being right with God. We have to reign ourselves in and honor our parents by presenting tough love to our children through godly wisdom.
Why have we had so many incidents with children doing wrong? It has gotten worse in the last 20 years. Some children were not taught right. If they were taught then the follow up and constant observance did not happen. The thing is, we let society take over once the child is in school. Children are becoming engulfed in outside negative influences from other children who were not reared in the ways of the Father and adults who think they know what children need. Disrespect, sexualization of women, and mockery are society’s pull into acceptance. Sin is the norm. I wonder what happened? Did someone’s parents go overkill on church traditions instead of seeing what Scripture really says thereby loosing the child into disbelief as an adult? Or, was there a free thinking parent that let everything go too far? I mean really, parents are even being sued by their own children for what they consider to be “neglect”. Come on folks.
Dr. James Dobson addressed D.C. on the National Day of Prayer with some perfect yet condemning thoughts. He let them know that all these recent immoral and thoughtless decisions are corrupting our youth. He really let the people listening understand that the U.S. needs to straighten their act up and take many things into consideration including the media and politics. He explained that parents need their rights back; also the media and LGBT communities need to back off because they are causing mental, emotional, and spiritual breakdown of the children; manipulating them into believing they are the norm.
Recent studies prove that children want more parent involvement in a parent/child relationship not the parent/child as friends. Children in church want more adult involvement in their lives after youth group to keep a good solid foundation to be built upon. Parents and elders of the church are neglecting one of the precepts of raising the youth
We need to kick this country’s preverbal butt. Show a renewed love and compassion built on God to our children and let it flow outward. We need to fight evil with love. Show a different form of compassion never seen before so that the sinners see their folly and Jesus can revive us again.
Today we celebrate Mothers. Honor them for they are a reflection of the Lord's Compassion
MONEY CAN BUY MANY THINGS BUT IT CANNOT BUY YOU THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM
You have accepted Jesus as your LORD and Savior and became a member of a church. First off, Welcome Home we are glad you decided to join us. Secondly, now that you are a member of the Body of Christ let me remind you of some of your obligations:
You need to be a loyal follower of Christ. Christ won back His Father’s creation from sin through Love. Love is shown in many forms: compassion, sharing, caring, total surrender to Christ, just to name a few. Follow Christ by showing His Love to others.
You need to give of yourself, mind, body, soul, and material things to further the work of the kingdom. Just giving money is NOT enough. Just coming to church on Sunday is NOT enough. Just praying daily is NOT enough. Just believing is NOT enough. Just reading Scripture daily is NOT enough. Get the Picture.
According to the Bible, Jesus Says:
And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
The rich man may have money to burn and think that he can buy his way in by giving money but not giving of himself. NOT
And do not think that paying someone (televangelists) to pray for you is right either, it isn't. They will tell you to send money to the ministry (pay them) and the prayers will be answered. Obviously they are not talking to God.
And He was saying, "The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts and grows--how, he himself does not know. "The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head. But when the crop permits, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come." Mark 4:26-29
Strong faith is not immediate, it is grown through living in Truth and maintaining a Christ-like life. Growth does not just come from going to church, the Word controls and is in every facet of our lives. The Word and faith in Jesus are the water and nutrients that feed our every move. When we become tempted and commit sin, our spiritual food is lessened and our growth is stunted delaying the harvest. If we stay in sin we will not grow and blossom. If we receive the food but there is no pollination (follow His Word and Way and spreading it), we cannot grow fruit and will rot.
"For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own servants and entrusted his possessions to them. “To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. "Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. “In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more. "But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. “Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. “The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, 'Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.' "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.' "Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, 'Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.' "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.' "And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. ‘And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.' "But his master answered and said to him, 'You wicked, lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. ‘Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. 'Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.' "For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. “Throw out the worthless servant into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 25:14-30
Do not think that this means the more money you give, the more you receive. That is not the case here. Tithing with money is necessary for upkeep, yes. But in order to gain, you must give more. Think of the talents as sharing the spiritual gifts that God has bestowed upon us. Some get more, some less. It is how they are used as to what is gained. We should not expect accolades or payments for use of the gifts for what we give we shall receive. If we share Jesus with one, then that person shares with another, then another; therein lies our wealth.
Where does it say that to maintain membership in a church you must give money every week? Money is a material object that only goes so far and is NOT a requirement for membership. That is a danger which must be stopped. To some, money is everything, their idol. Money currently controls governments, it controls status, it controls materials to make what is bought and sold to live in this world. Money has become a God. But money does NOT control membership in the Body of Christ. It does NOT decide your involvement. You cannot buy positions in the church. I was in a church where the deacon chairman was more concerned with how much a person tithed rather than how well the members were in the Spirit. How much you put in the offering plate is between you and God, just make sure you give of yourself as well.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse . . . and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY
This does not mean pay more get more as the “prosperity gospel” preachers say. It has nothing to do with individual riches. In fact it has historical significance going back the lack of food going into the national storehouse to feed the priests. Since the Israelites we not giving enough of their own crops, the priests had to take time away from their priestly duties and farm on their own.
Those who use this are filling their pockets with money and not sharing as they should (i.e. Joel Osteen’s multimillion dollar mansion, Creflo Dollar and large bank accounts, T.D. Jakes wanting a private plane for missions).
“No one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age.” Mark 10:29-30
Giving $10 does not mean you will see $1000. Once again, Jesus is speaking of Spiritual wealth and a place in the Kingdom.
The fruit of the vine is the final gift of the spirit. What do I mean? Yes I believe that faith alone saved me but having faith is not enough. Keeping faith to ourselves and not sharing it is like the seed that grows but does not give fruit. Our spiritual wealth may depend on if we were like the servant who gained because he used the gift wisely. Do not be like the servant who tucked it away.
MONEY IS NOT GOD, FAME AND FORTUNE GET YOU NOWHERE BUT A GOOD GRAVE
GIVE OF YOURSELF AND BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT, THAT IS BEING WEALTHY
Grant R. Jeffery states, "The Signature of God With all these truths revealed in Scripture, how could a thinking person deny that the Bible is supernatural in origin? There is no other book in any of the world’s religions (Vedas, Bhagavad-Gita, Koran, Book of Mormon, etc.) that contains scientific truth. In fact, they contain statements that are clearly unscientific."
The Truth is in Black and White (and sometimes Red)
IN THE BEGINNING (everything has a start) GOD CREATED (decisions must be made on a project and parameters must be set and formulations designed. Then He took the parameters and the design with the right components) THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH (the basis for which on everything else will be shaped). Sounds like a complex scientific and mathematical project in the works. What if I told you that we can find scientific facts in Scripture? In fact, we can find many realms of scientific disciplines within the Bible. Let me explain this process as we dissect God’s Word through His creation.
Science explains the universe using time, space, matter, and motion. Look at this:
"In the beginning (time) God created (power) the Heaven (space) and the Earth (matter)... And the Spirit of God moved (motion) upon the face of the waters."
NASA, testing Russia’s Big Bang Theory, sent a multi-billion dollar explorer to the outer limits of space when they could have gone into a church and picked up a Bible to understand the beginning of all things.
The Hubble telescope proved that there is a place in space that confirms “the vast void” which was the beginning.
Hebrews 11:3 says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”.
The smallest particles, atoms if you will, are the invisible molecular level in which the Word of God is imprinted. An atom is made of protons and neutrons which are in the dense center of an atom called a nucleus. There is a charge of positive charges that are bound together by some unknown force. Things that make you go Hmmm.
Recent discoveries find a coding on DNA which states, ”I AM”.
How about proof that the earth is round and not flat "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in." (Isaiah 40:22)
The universe expands….no really it does, and science just figured that out too.
What about the stars?? Science has discovered that stars emit radio waves, which are received on earth as a high pitch. God mentioned this in Job 38:7: "When the morning stars sang together..."
The earth is formulated like a successful science experiment.
There is just the right amount of water in the oceans and on land, any deeper the water would absorb all the CO2 and nitrogen to the point where no creature on earth could survive.
Isaiah 40:12 "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand..."
God has measured the waters and set a proper amount of water on the Earth.
"He...hangs the earth upon nothing" (Job 26:7). The earth is free floating in orbit and held by gravity.
How does the wind current work?? "The wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north; it whirls about continually, and the wind returns again according to his circuits" (Ecclesiastes 1:6).
Solomon described a "cycle" of air currents two thousand years before scientists "discovered" them. The Bible describes the circulation of the atmosphere, and includes some principles of fluid dynamics.
We have a revolving earth, with day and night at the same time.
“I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” Luke 17:34–36 which discusses the Second Coming of Jesus Christ states that He will come while some are asleep at night and others are working at daytime activities in the field.
The Importance of Blood and Washing
Leviticus 17:11, declared that blood is the source of life: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood."
That was written 3,000 years ago
The practice of intentionally “bleeding” those who were sick occurred until about 120 years ago, this caused many deaths. Blood is life, lose blood, and lose life.
Blood Clotting has been proven to begin occurring after a child is out of the womb by the 8th day. The Covenant of Blood through circumcision was performed on the 8th day after birth. Holt Pediatrics, observed that a newborn infant has “peculiar susceptibility to bleeding between the second and fifth days of life.... Hemorrhages at this time, though often inconsequential, are sometimes extensive; they may produce serious damage to internal organs, especially to the brain, and cause death from shock and exsanguination” (1953, pp. 125-126).
God gave specific instructions to His people for when they encounter disease: "And when he that has an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself even days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean" (Leviticus 15:13). Doctors washed their hands in a bowl of water, leaving invisible germs on their hands and spreading diseases. The Bible says specifically to wash hands under "running water."
Arturo Castiglione wrote about the overwhelming importance of this biblical medical law: ‘The laws against leprosy in Leviticus 13 may be regarded as the first model of sanitary legislation’ (A History of Medicine)."
Biogenesis and the Chemical nature of the flesh
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good." Gen 1:11-12
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7
What about Mental and Physical stability
An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.
A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.
God created Man in His Image. When He spoke using the plural He was speaking of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This does not mean the physical attributes but the mental, spiritual, and emotional values and characteristics. The Truth (Word) was imprinted in our very DNA. We know it but do not comprehend all things that are written there. I believe God enabled the release of knowledge and understanding at appointed times through appointed people so that we are not all super geniuses and God like from day one. Since Adam and Eve ate the apple we have progressed to be more like God in many industrial ways. We have forgotten that God created us to be caretakers of the earth and each other, righting wrongs and cultivating growth. He gave us the capacity to learn, have free will, create, and destroy which are all attributes of our creator. He gave us the power to Love and understand each other but man has perverted that by his own greedy desires. Science is in the Bible. We are just at the tip of what else can be learned from Scripture. Progressive science has proven Biblical truths and contributing it God. Maybe if we concentrate of the spirit instead of industry we would have a better understanding and live a Crist-like life. I don’t know but is that not what God wants from us? We need to live a life in Christ, loving one another as He has loved us.
The Preacher's Pledge
I will make the Bible my primary resource in sermon preparation and preaching.
I may use other resources such as commentaries and web sites to enhance, not replace, my personal interaction with Scripture.
As I study I will strive to accurately understand and honestly apply God's Word, allowing Him to uniquely proclaim His truth in a relevant way through me.
This is also relevant to the Body of Christ. Instead of sermon preparation, substitute witnessing and Discipleship. When it comes to the use of other materials to enhance the Word while accurately professing and applying your faith in order to plant seeds; our lives are the source materials so they will not just hear but see Christ in us.
The BIBLE is our main source of information for living a Godly Life. It is the Word of God which means it is truth. These days some people are perverting the Word to satisfy their own agendas. It has been used to start race wars, grant assurance of salvation to the guilty who boast by openly living in their sin without penance, and glorifying their humanity instead of relying on God.
Brothers and Sisters, it is time to put a stop to this madness because of the persecution that will come if we let it continue. Church, we need to guide and empower the youth to stay in the faith, not ignoring them once they are in the world and under it's influence. Are we not given this responsibility by growing in Christ, much less it is spelled out numerous times in Scripture that we must take the youth under our wing and teach the Word, follow up and keep them in It. Many Christians are failing in this thanks to the influence of society.
I think we know some of the influences today. The exploitation of the human body to sell products, acceptance of proven mental disorders (gender dysphoria) as being a norm in society. The government's involvement in the destruction of the ordinance of marriage. Acceptable boasting in sins. The worst is the misinterpretation of Jesus fulfilling the law not abolishing it in the thinking that all Mosaic Laws are now cancelled. He fulfilled the rituals, sacrifices, and festivals, that's it. HE gave us a new commandment of Love with the condition, our neighbor as ourselves.
Brothers and Sisters, Stand with me in God's WORD, the Truth. Do not let it falter. Live a Christ like life so those around you see Him in you. Be safe and God Bless
