Building Relationships Through God's Love

We welcome July with a repentant heart. There are things happening in this world that are changing the way we see normal. Places are opening with restrictions. Some people are realizing what foolishness is happening.  God is winning battles. Even though it looks like we have certain major losses, God is winning. We are in an amazing time and the world will never be the same again.

Scripture of the Week: Job 38:4-18
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
    Tell me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
    Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 On what were its bases sunk,
    or who laid its cornerstone,
7 when the morning stars sang together
    and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8 “Or who shut in the sea with doors
    when it burst out from the womb,
9 when I made clouds its garment
    and thick darkness its swaddling band,
10 and prescribed limits for it
    and set bars and doors,
11 and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,
    and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?

12 “Have you commanded the morning since your days began,
    and caused the dawn to know its place,
13 that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth,
    and the wicked be shaken out of it?
14 It is changed like clay under the seal,
    and its features stand out like a garment.
15 From the wicked their light is withheld,
    and their uplifted arm is broken.

16 “Have you entered into the springs of the sea,
    or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you,
    or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?
18 Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?
    Declare, if you know all this.

Boasting

Too many, Lord, abuse Your grace in this corrupt day.
And while they boast they see Your face, they turn their own away.
Your book displays a gracious light that can the blind restore; but these are dazzled by the sight,
And blinded still the more.
The pardon such presume upon, they do not beg, but steal;
And when they plead it at Your throne, Oh! Where’s the Spirit’s seal?
Was it for this, you lawless tribe, the dear Redeemer bled?
Is this the grace the saints imbibe from Christ the living head?
Ah, Lord, we know Your chosen few are fed with heavenly fare;
But these,—the wretched husks they chew, proclaim them what they are.
The liberty our hearts implore is not to live in sin;
But still to wait at Wisdom’s door, till Mercy calls us in.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
Does that sound familiar with what is going on today? In no way am I a speaker of prophesy I just report on the Word and how it reflects today’s world. There are people who are in it (the riches of the world) for themselves with no fear of God or the consequences of lacking in the knowledge of Jesus. These will eventually fall. They party hard and act immorally in many ways. Then there are those who claim to live a Christian life and turn around in blatant rejection of the ethical and morality laws that certain people say no longer apply.
There is a problem with lawlessness in this day and age. Some situations can be proven while others are boosted by false information but either way causing the masses to take up a cause without knowing the truth of the actions sometimes with unnecessary violence.
There are those who boast in their sin, speaking of it openly and forcing their sinful lifestyles upon us. They confuse the minds of the youth by saying, “it is alright that I am this way, God still loves me”. These then become socially accepted behaviors which is morally wrong. Yes it is true that God still loves but not true that it is alright to pronounce it openly and become a norm. This applies to ALL sinful behavior.
There are many levels of pride but it also depends on the definition. Pride is defined secularly as “a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired”.  Being prideful in one’s own self (especially when sinning openly) is a sin.
The advent of social media has made it possible for people to do or show things without regards for consequence. Some do it for increasing their popularity others for private reasons.
If you read on in the passage it says, “They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.  Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.  But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone (2 Timothy 3:6-9).”
It looks like the verses are talking about sexual predators at first but it is not. These are warnings of false teachers who speak false gospels. These false teachers either know little of the truth or know it but pervert it to meet their own objectives and desires. They get others to believe in them and forgo their correct (godly life) Christian behaviors. Funny how it says “worm their way into homes”; does that remind you of some televangelists. Not all are bad but some are just in it for the money.
The two men are the false idol teachers Moses dealt with when they had the Hebrews worship the Golden Calf in the desert. How quickly they were brought down. How long must we suffer with the false prophets of today? Notice how the truth is being revealed about some of the more money hungry ones who have been exposed for their wealth.
So, boasting and prideful behaviors are sins that result from simple human desires and temptations. Not saying we cannot have pride in our works but do not boast for yourself. Let others speak joyfully of your accomplishments. Do not speak in prideful behaviors about openly sinning.
Psalm 94:3-4 How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat? How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?
Hopefully not much longer.
