Building Relationships Through God's Love

Scripture of the Week: Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

Finding Courage in the Comfort of God's Word

Where is it that you find the most comfort? What makes you at ease and less stressed so that you can be a value to the society in which you live? When the kings of Judea were apart from God, they found nothing but trouble. The influences of other gods and the societies that worshipped them had made their troubles greater because the other gods were manifestations of the Adversary.
The line of King David had many troubles because they were influenced by other nations who did not know the One True God and had fallen into the traps of doing vile and immoral things to attempt to bring a peaceful resolve to the lands. Sometimes, God would open the heart of a prophet and the king would listen. Sometimes the king would kill the prophet without remorse which caused even worse trouble. When Asa was king, he listened………
The Spirit of God came on ‘Azaryah the son of ‘Oded; 2 he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa, and all Y’hudah and Binyamin! Adonai is with you, as long as you are with him; if you seek him, you will find him; but if you abandon him, he will abandon you! 3 For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a cohen who could teach, and without Torah. 4 But when, in their distress, they turned to Adonai the God of Israel and sought him, they found him. 5 In those times people going about their business were insecure, and great disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands; 6 so that they were shattered to pieces, nation against nation and city against city, as God troubled them with every kind of distress. 7 But you, be strong, and don’t slack off; for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:1-7
I used the Common Jewish Bible translation here because it made the most sense to me. King Asa found comfort in the words of the seer/prophet and realized why the nation was troubled. He went on a crusade and removed the worship of Ba’al, Molech, Asherah, and others who caused strife in the land. He instructed all the people to return to Adonai and they did. Their hard hearts crumbled and found comfort and peace. For 35 years the nation was quiet and at peace because they returned to God.
We are in a time where Ba’al, Molech, and Baphomet have overtaken the hearts of humankind, even some who lead worship in the name of Jesus have fallen into the trappings of the immoral and vile behaviors that the demon gods enjoy. We are finding that child sacrifices have returned, sexual perversions that are supposed to bring a heightened spiritual well-being (happiness) are being practiced. These things only bring trouble and we are experiencing that now. We are in a time where the balance is highly disturbed and we are afflicted. We have division where we once almost had peaceful resolution.
What we need to do is obvious. The change must occur first in the churches that have been infected then reach out to others so they can see the truth that has been covered by the goat’s wool in front of their eyes. King Asa and others were reminded of the truth through words from the prophets or a rediscovery of the ancient texts. We have the Dead Sea Scrolls and other texts that have not been changed so why can we not listen and find comfort?
Heavenly Father, Gracious Lord, we have sinned and forgotten the truths. We have let our brothers and sisters fall into the traps of the gods who keep us from knowing you and allowed them to find peace and comfort in things that will only destroy them. Father, enter us and shine your light through us so that we may be like Azaryah and the other prophets who spoke Your truths and bring a temporary peace to this troubled world until Your Son returns. Father, be with those who are suffering and mourning their losses both physically and spiritually especially when it is a child, or other loved one. Help us remove the wool from the eyes of the churches who lost your Word so that the true Kingdom will be found and built higher for your Glory. Thank you Father for all things, for the remission of sins, and the Holy Spirit which guides us. We ask these things through your Son, Jesus. Amen
