Building Relationships Through God's Love

Scripture of the Week:

Psalm 92

Of David.

It is good to praise the LORD,
to sing hymns to Your name, O Most High,

To proclaim Your steadfast love at daybreak,
Your faithfulness each night

With a ten-stringed harp,
with voice and lyre together.

You have gladdened me by Your deeds, O LORD;
I shout for joy at Your handiwork.

How great are Your works, O LORD,
how very subtle Or “profound.” Your designs!

A brutish man cannot know,
a fool cannot understand this:

though the wicked sprout like grass,
though all evildoers blossom,
it is only that they may be destroyed forever.

But You are exalted, O LORD, for all time.
Surely, Your enemies, O LORD,
surely, Your enemies perish;
all evildoers are scattered.

You raise my horn high like that of a wild ox;
I am soaked in freshening oil.

I shall see the defeat of my watchful foes,
hear of the downfall of the wicked who beset me.

The righteous bloom like a date-palm;
they thrive like a cedar in Lebanon;

planted in the house of the LORD,
they flourish in the courts of our God.

In old age they still produce fruit;
they are full of sap and freshness,

attesting that the LORD is upright,
my rock, in whom there is no wrong.

What is a False Prophet?

If a prophet speaks what seems to be true then entices you to follow a God who you or your parents do not know this is a false prophet. These warnings are in Deuteronomy 13, and 18. Ezekiel and Zechariah speak of false prophets.  Basically, warnings against false prophets and making people into gods is found all over the Hebrew Scriptures.

If a prophet tells of something different, even slightly from what God commanded or is said by Him, he is a false prophet. If a prophet changes the Scripture in any way shape or form, then the prophet is false. A prophet, true or false is given the power to do miracles (this is why Ha Moshiach will not do miracles) to test us. So how did we get to where we are today? Many have been deceived and failed the test.

Reading Galatians 1 this morning I see Paul practically begging people to not think he is lying. He says he is a Jew of high standards yet does the one thing that is constantly warned about, elevating a man to be close or equal to God. Fortunately in that chapter, he does separate the two but still elevates Jesus. So he is telling people to worship a man and God.

Is this why pastors are so much the Jesus this or Jesus that because this is what Paul said about him? Pretty much, yes.

If you have not guessed by now, Paul is not really a favored person in my eyes or mind. This is because he seems to have to constantly defend himself. If he was telling the truth of matters he would not have to be on the defense because of how God opens eyes and hearts once He is spoken of and learned about.

When people read the Word of God in the Hebrew Scriptures from the Only God point of view, you can see the truth of the matter is right before your eyes. The way the Jesus movement spread was due to a lack of knowing and understanding the Hebrew Bible. Paul went to the places where the slaves could not read or write. He also convinced people who were only Jew by birth and not by faith and trust in God.

Was Jesus a prophet? The mission of a prophet was to help people to turn back to God and warn of what would happen if they did not.  He was an observant Jew who took the Word to the Jew who was lost. He understood the mission of the anointed one who would bring Israel home.

Was he Anointed? Not in the proper way. He was a Pharisaic Jew who was a friend of the Pharisee and hated by the Sadducee. The only anointing is done by a woman who places oil on Jesus and cleans his feet with her years and hair, totally against God's Law.
Why was Jesus killed? Because he was seen as a problem to the status quo of the time and an enemy of the Roman occupation.

Could he have been the Moshiach described in the Hebrew Bible? Because of what we are told he was Jewish through his mother but his adopted father's line puts him in the cursed line of Solomon according to the gospel ascribed to Matthew written 45 years after the fact, then no.

Zechariah 13:6 speaks of a false prophet who deceived many. He was beaten, scarred, and had holes in his hands (wrists). Think on this.
