Where People Of God Come Together

 Devotions and Lessons
Building Relationships Through God's Love

Scripture of the Week:

Psalm 92

Of David.

It is good to praise the LORD,
to sing hymns to Your name, O Most High,

To proclaim Your steadfast love at daybreak,
Your faithfulness each night

With a ten-stringed harp,
with voice and lyre together.

You have gladdened me by Your deeds, O LORD;
I shout for joy at Your handiwork.

How great are Your works, O LORD,
how very subtle Or “profound.” Your designs!

A brutish man cannot know,
a fool cannot understand this:

though the wicked sprout like grass,
though all evildoers blossom,
it is only that they may be destroyed forever.

But You are exalted, O LORD, for all time.
Surely, Your enemies, O LORD,
surely, Your enemies perish;
all evildoers are scattered.

You raise my horn high like that of a wild ox;
I am soaked in freshening oil.

I shall see the defeat of my watchful foes,
hear of the downfall of the wicked who beset me.

The righteous bloom like a date-palm;
they thrive like a cedar in Lebanon;

planted in the house of the LORD,
they flourish in the courts of our God.

In old age they still produce fruit;
they are full of sap and freshness,

attesting that the LORD is upright,
my rock, in whom there is no wrong.

Control

Read Now

There are times in our lives here in this hustle and bustle world where we ask, “how long?”, or “Why now?”, and the ever popular, “When?”. We have gotten so used to having things quickly that I am glad we have slowed down for the past year. Putting things into perspective we have to deal with God’s timing in many facets of our lives yet we still cry out to Him as to when Messiah will come. All I can say is that he will come when God says it is time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, a right time for every intention under heaven“. What Solomon of blessed memory is saying here is let go and let God do the things He needs to do so that we can do the things He needs us to do. There is only so much we can actually do for ourselves without it being something God has us do for His Glory.

God is In Control
God has ultimate control over everything we do. Some things may seem like they are things we do for and by ourselves but a lot of those things are done through a choice we made to let our evil inclinations and temptations take hold. God still finds a way to use those as either teaching tools or for the benefit of another. This is not saying that all evil things can be used for good but there is a slight chance that God may even use a tragedy to work in the lives of many.

Our Control is Our Choice, Well Not Always
The verse above tells us that things happen when they happen. But thanks to free will we are given the choice to attempt control over things we believe we can. When control is lost, many who need to be that way become lost and stressed out. They do not realize that they were not in control in the first place. If God desires you to complete a mission or take care of something/someone, then He will guide you through to the end.

What we can control is not much except what we choose to eat, drink, when the body needs something to sustain it. Even then we are given plans for what is good and bad for us but we still can choose what we take in to sustain our bodies. There are dangerous things that we choose to intake and those are choices that can affect those around us in different ways.

Our Intentions Should Reflect God In Our Lives
If we could place ourselves in God’s shoes just watching over our own life we would probably not like some of the choices made and figure out how to make them work out. Some people keep God real busy while others do their best to follow God’s Law as the human body and mind can handle.
If our intention is to live a life in accordance with God’s Word then we need to get busy and do it. If the intention of someone you care about is opposite then let’s work on that.

So the answer to the three questions in the first paragraph actually depend on us. How Long? As long as it takes for the world to know God. Why Now? No better time than now to get people to get to know God. When? When God is ready He will send us the Messiah.

In His Arms,
 Rob, Servant of God
