Where People Of God Come Together

Building Relationships Through God's Love

Scripture of the Week:

Psalm 92

Of David.

It is good to praise the LORD,
to sing hymns to Your name, O Most High,

To proclaim Your steadfast love at daybreak,
Your faithfulness each night

With a ten-stringed harp,
with voice and lyre together.

You have gladdened me by Your deeds, O LORD;
I shout for joy at Your handiwork.

How great are Your works, O LORD,
how very subtle Or “profound.” Your designs!

A brutish man cannot know,
a fool cannot understand this:

though the wicked sprout like grass,
though all evildoers blossom,
it is only that they may be destroyed forever.

But You are exalted, O LORD, for all time.
Surely, Your enemies, O LORD,
surely, Your enemies perish;
all evildoers are scattered.

You raise my horn high like that of a wild ox;
I am soaked in freshening oil.

I shall see the defeat of my watchful foes,
hear of the downfall of the wicked who beset me.

The righteous bloom like a date-palm;
they thrive like a cedar in Lebanon;

planted in the house of the LORD,
they flourish in the courts of our God.

In old age they still produce fruit;
they are full of sap and freshness,

attesting that the LORD is upright,
my rock, in whom there is no wrong.

Paying Forward

0 Comments

Read Now

This past Saturday I was waiting for an oil change on my car so I walked around town for a bit until I was compelled to go to Shoney’s to get something to eat. I really did not intend to go there but I listened to my heart. While in the restaurant I ran into a couple of old friends and caught up with them which was awesome but the thing that got me thinking was when I had gotten to the counter to pay. I paid for mine then without thinking about it I paid for the couple behind me in line. As I was leaving out the door I noticed that the couple paid for the person that was waiting behind them. This had me wondering if a chain reaction would start and we would have random acts of kindness going on all day.
I do not know what happened after I left but I know that four people were touched that morning. God tells us to be kind and do things for others without second thought. He also reminds us that if something good is done for us then we should do the same for another. I never thought I would be witness to an immediate paying forward but I did and my heart was warmed and cooled by the Holy Spirit welling up inside me telling me that it was the right thing to do.
You Never Know The Impact
The look on the faces on all involved yesterday were like one of those “priceless” commercials where 15 million emotions are seen in an instant. What was going through the minds I will never know but I could tell that the man who was behind the other couple did not expect the chain reaction that happened and neither did the cashier. You can never tell what the end result will be but that one moment of kindness could have a lifelong impact. Maybe the man was having one of those days or he could have been having a good morning that was boosted 7 times 7 and he paid it forward in another way. God knows, and the impact of a simple kindness moves mountains.
Blessings
I was blessed to find that I did not have to pay for the oil change but blessings come in many other ways. When we do God’s Will amazingly simple things happen that make our days brighter. It was supposed to storm hard and I had told my wife I would grill some steaks. It sprinkled when I first lit the fire but the rain held off until evening after all was cleaned up. When I went to Food Lion to get some last minute items, I heard conversations on how good others days had gotten even when their mornings started out horribly wrong until something happened that changed it. God takes our troubles and can turn them into blessings. Life is good when God is in the center.
How Can We Feel The Joy Daily
Seek God’s Grace through the Joy of no matter what occurs. As Christians we find hope and joy in our Lord even in the midst of sorrow. When our day seems too perfect we know that somewhere, someone suffered for this day. We thank God for everything that happens even if it was counted as a loss. God is there and even when we do not want to admit it, God will remind us of His presence. All we have to do is live for Him and others, not for ourselves. Saying it is easy, I know, but living it is hard. We just have to believe and trust that God has us wrapped in His arms.
Be blessed in the knowledge that God is always there. He is with us through His Words, His Love, His Sacrifice.

Love to All

Rob, Servant of God
