Building Relationships Through God's Love

Scripture of the Week:

Psalm 92

Of David.

It is good to praise the LORD,
to sing hymns to Your name, O Most High,

To proclaim Your steadfast love at daybreak,
Your faithfulness each night

With a ten-stringed harp,
with voice and lyre together.

You have gladdened me by Your deeds, O LORD;
I shout for joy at Your handiwork.

How great are Your works, O LORD,
how very subtle Or “profound.” Your designs!

A brutish man cannot know,
a fool cannot understand this:

though the wicked sprout like grass,
though all evildoers blossom,
it is only that they may be destroyed forever.

But You are exalted, O LORD, for all time.
Surely, Your enemies, O LORD,
surely, Your enemies perish;
all evildoers are scattered.

You raise my horn high like that of a wild ox;
I am soaked in freshening oil.

I shall see the defeat of my watchful foes,
hear of the downfall of the wicked who beset me.

The righteous bloom like a date-palm;
they thrive like a cedar in Lebanon;

planted in the house of the LORD,
they flourish in the courts of our God.

In old age they still produce fruit;
they are full of sap and freshness,

attesting that the LORD is upright,
my rock, in whom there is no wrong.

Sing Halleluiah

There is something very special about the Psalms. The writers of these words reached down into their souls and sang to the Lord their praises to Him as well as their troubles. The ones written by David tell the story of David’s faith, fall, and return. David wrote of God’s Grace, Mercy, and compassion when soothing the soul of King Saul. Psalm 30 sings to us a thankful spirit and a prayer for help in troubled times.

I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.
O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”
By your favor, O Lord, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face;
  I was dismayed.

To you, O Lord, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
“What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?
Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me! O Lord, be my helper!”

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth
 and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Oh how glorious is this Psalm that sings of the saving Grace that God gives freely. He brings us from the depths of our darkness and restores us to His Kingdom. Though He may be disappointed in us when we sin, like a Father He chastises then showers us with His Mercy. When we cry out to Him with a true heart, desiring of His help, He is there to lead us home. In our suffering He brings joy. He wraps us with His arms of Grace. Rise Halleluiahs to the Lord God Almighty and Glorify His Name.

In The Father’s Loving Arms,

Rob, Servant of God
